Semerkand İngilizce Dergi Sayı: 14 - Şubat 2023

Semerkand English Magazine presents its February issue and is now available with its feature article titled "Sin and Remorse.”

 

The article, authored by Siraceddin Önlüer, provides a multilateral analysis of the nature of sin and a wealth of anecdotes related to the subject from the lives of the Prophet, his companions and great friends of Allah.

 

The author mentions the key factors that determine the magnitude of sins and explains why our perception of our sins matters and how we should readjust our understanding of what makes a major sin. He points out the pitfalls of underestimating sins and continues to elaborate on the nature of sin by categorizing them based on where and how they originate, and how they effect our lives. He notes that, in order to counter the disruptive and destructive effects of sins, one should forge ahead with remorse and repentance, two vital components of redemption from acts of transgression.

 

Our lead author, Muhammed Mübarek Elhüseyni, focuses on the concept of tawbah in his lead article this month and provides an insight into the incredibly encompassing, endless mercy of Allah in light of ayahs and hadiths that encourage believers to repent. He calls attention to different aspects of tawbah such as it being not only a means of striving for Allah’s forgiveness but also one of purification. He highlights the significance of humility, especially for those who seek repentance and forgiveness, and sheds light on how sincere tawbah shapes one’s journey in this life into the next.
