Semerkand English Magazine presents its March issue, now available with a feature article titled "Me or Us?”

The article, authored by Abdülhamid Eşmeli, emphasizes the virtue of advocating for solidarity rather than continuing to exist detached from the rest of society. It contextualizes the pitfalls of deep-rooted, self-centered individualism in our age within the concept of Muslim unity as an ummah.

The author provides a layered and enlightening perspective on unity through the lens of Islamic brotherhood, which is at the core of the Muslim way of life. By presenting the inevitable conceptual relation between pride and arrogance and the solitude being consumed by these alienating characteristics ultimately lead to, his approach to the different aspects of Muslim unity that are missing today throws how shifted modern paradigms of humanity are into stark relief. He delivers a deeply meaningful point by underlining the difference between a life lived according to the Qur’anic and prophetic guidance that gives precedence to the vital connection between believers and one that is deprived of the key unifying elements of Islamic social life.

Our lead author, Muhammed Mübarek Elhüseyni, brings the aspect of Islam that regulates and organizes our lives into focus in his lead article titled "Islam in Hardship, Prosperity and Every Stage of Life.” He establishes that, for every situation encountered in the cycle of life, Islam has a guideline that enables believers to have a clear strategy to move forward. He notes that Islam offers a firm anchor even in the most turbulent times, and in the most exacting moments of trial, believers' source of consolation comes from the indefatigable belief that their patience against hardships and gratitude for blessings yield the most favorable outcome for them as a mercy and a boon from Allah.
